7.93g Libyan Desert Glass (Tektite)

Libyan Desert Glass is a variety of tektite. Which is molten glass ejecta from a meteor impact! The raw heat and kinetic energy caused sand to fuse into this beautiful glass and sent it flying out from the impact site. The ridges and bubbles you see are from gases expanding out of the cooling material. This particular tektite was first described in 1933 and came from South-East Libya but some pieces are also found in Egypt.
